Norbord - Cowie Plant

Norbord Inc. is an international wood-based panelboard producer with assets of US$ 1.4 billion and annual sales in excess of $1 billion. The company is one of the largest producers of OSB in the world and has 16 operations in the United States, Europe and Canada.

The plant at Cowie has over thirty valve-sets, including wet sprinkler, pre-action, deluge, foam systems and four fire pumps.

Vipond were delighted to be awarded the contract to provide ongoing maintenance, weekly testing and breakdown cover for the site.

Due to the nature of the business, any activation of a sprinkler or foam system automatically shuts down production in the affected area. The costs of this can be excessive and naturally Norbord rely on their service provider fast response to make sure their systems are returned to full operation quickly and efficiently.
